Birthday congratulations

Thistle manager Dunky Sinclair reached his half century on Tuesday 26th January 2016.

Sinky had an illustrious career in junior football, both as a player and manager. The big man started his playing career at the now defunct Blantyre Celtic and had spells at Blantyre Vics, Lesmahagow, Cumnock, Pollok and Maryhill.

According to Dunk himself, he is a legend at Cumnock with his picture all over the pavillion at Townhead Park. During his playing career Sinky was capped 14 times for Scotland which must be close to a record at this level.

When his playing career ended Duncan entered management with Kilsyth Rangers then Shotts and who can forget his lengthy spell at Lanark!!!. Dunky has been involved at Gasworks Park for close on five years.

Dunky works as a “janny ” at Chatelherault Primary and is married to Catherine and they have a daughter Carrie who incidentally works for our main sponsor estate agents Igloo.

On behalf of everyone at Larkhall Thistle many congratulations have a good one and enjoy your night on Saturday night.

Larkhall Thistle Amateurs v Dumbarton FP

Larkhall Thistle Amateurs face Dumbarton FP in the final of the Caledonian League Cup at Broadwood, home of Clyde FC on Friday 22nd January at 7.45pm.

The club started out in season 2014 – 2015 as part of the Larkhall United structure of teams and began playing in the Strathclyde Morning League, reaching the fifth round of the Scottish Amateur cup, which without a doubt is the toughest of all the national cups to win.

Larkhall United then linked up with Larkhall Thistle to form Larkhall Thistle Community Club which resulted in teams from 1999 to 2006 plus the amateurs and juniors under the community club umbrella.

At the start of season 2015 – 2016, Larkhall Thistle Amateurs joined the Caledonian League set up and now play on Saturday afternoons. The club have tremendous mix of players, some who have played at the highest level others who have junior experience and guys who have played amateur.

With the hard work of the coaching staff and the support of the club the amateurs are progressing season to season. The aim of the community club is to encourage young people to participate in sport from childhood to adulthood, which assists in commitment  and social skills.

We sincerely hope that as many people will make the effort to travel to Broadwood on January 22nd to support the lads in their efforts to lift the trophy which would be a major achievement for the club.

On behalf of the committee, players and coaching staff of Larkhall Thistle juniors, we wish everyone connected with the amateurs the best of luck on the night.
