I am seeking information about a junior at your club who went on to play at Clyde thence in Australia. His name was Peter Boyle & he left for Clyde in 1972/3 as a 21 year old. He would play eventually for Australia but legend has it that in one season at Thistle he scored 40 goals. Any information would help.

Hi Greg,
Your correct Peter Boyle did play with us and scored 41 goals in the one season. Peter formed a goal scoring partnership with a guy called Davie Boyle . Peter will be the first to admit that Davie at the veteran stage of his career taught him a lot when they were together but Peter was an unbelievable player especially in the penalty box and eventually went to Clyde who at that time were still a top team in Scottish senior football . Peter will never be forgotten at Gasworks. Joining a long list of players who have gone to the senior ranks and play international football for countries such as Scotland, England, U.SA. and Australia.

Best memory of Peter is a 15- minute hatrick at Yoker late in the game to defeat Cumnock after being 2-0 down to reach the 1972 Dryburgh Cup Final
