Benburb v Thistle 3rd June 2015

Thistle’s last game of the 2014 – 2015 season was a crucial game for the Bens, only a win would save them from relegation to the Central Second Division. Thistle  were safe and had nothing really to play for other than pride.

As Benburb were still awaiting completion of their new ground this game was played at Lochburn Park the home of Maryhill Juniors.

Maryhill v Thistle 16th May 2015

Thistle on the attack
Despite assuring themselves of staying in the First Division with the win over St Anthony’s in midweek, Thistle didn’t down tools and played their part in what was one of the highest scoring games of the whole league season. A nightmare of a game for defensive purists but it kept the majority of the crowd entertained until the final whistle.

Thorniewood Ultras
Thistle made the short trip to Viewpark for the second round of the last remaining cup competition that they had to play in, a dour struggle lacking in any real quality but the situation wasn’t helped any by the terrible playing surface.

Lanark United v Larkhall Thistle Central League Division 1 21st March 2015

Merchandise
Larkhall Thistle had a stand at today’s History of Larkhall exhibition, sales of Jags merchandise like the above went really well. The real winners on a bad day for the Jags were committe men Hugh Kerr and Levi McPhee who stayed behind to man the stall and answer a flood of questions throughout the day, at least they managed to avoid the shambles in Lanark.

Renfrew v Thistle, February 14th 2015

summary

Thistle got back to work on St Valentine’s Day against a Renfrew team which was chasing third spot in the table. The result was the same as the home game with Frew at Gasworks Park but the Jags fans won’t be queueing up to shower referee Mr McTeirnan with red roses after this display.
