Larkhall Thistle Amateurs face Dumbarton FP in the final of the Caledonian League Cup at Broadwood, home of Clyde FC on Friday 22nd January at 7.45pm.
The club started out in season 2014 – 2015 as part of the Larkhall United structure of teams and began playing in the Strathclyde Morning League, reaching the fifth round of the Scottish Amateur cup, which without a doubt is the toughest of all the national cups to win.
Larkhall United then linked up with Larkhall Thistle to form Larkhall Thistle Community Club which resulted in teams from 1999 to 2006 plus the amateurs and juniors under the community club umbrella.
At the start of season 2015 – 2016, Larkhall Thistle Amateurs joined the Caledonian League set up and now play on Saturday afternoons. The club have tremendous mix of players, some who have played at the highest level others who have junior experience and guys who have played amateur.
With the hard work of the coaching staff and the support of the club the amateurs are progressing season to season. The aim of the community club is to encourage young people to participate in sport from childhood to adulthood, which assists in commitment and social skills.
We sincerely hope that as many people will make the effort to travel to Broadwood on January 22nd to support the lads in their efforts to lift the trophy which would be a major achievement for the club.
On behalf of the committee, players and coaching staff of Larkhall Thistle juniors, we wish everyone connected with the amateurs the best of luck on the night.
