Larkhall Thistle v Rutherglen Glencairn
Central League First Division
Dunky and Tam took the opportunity to try out potential signings againstPremier First side Glencairn. The Jags started very well with trialists at right back and in midfield and it was no surprise when Ryan Innes headed in a precise Brian Jack corner in 12 minutes. Not long after going ahead, Andy Brown was forced to leave the field with what looked like a mouth injury after an accidental clash with Glencairn forward. He was replaced by Niall Reynolds.
The pattern of play continued with Thistle looking dangerous every time they attacked the Glens defence. Glencairn winger Downan was having some joy on the Thistle right flank but his final balls were not causing the Jags defence any problems. Graham Gracie then put Thistle two up after chasing down the Glens centre half, winning the ball and slotting past Hutcheson in the visitors goal.
Half time: Larkhall Thistle 2 Glencairn 0
Much the same in second half with Gracie adding to the tally to put Thistle three up. The game became a bit ragged with both teams using rolling subs. Graham should have had his hat trick when clean through but Hutcheson made a good block. Glencairn then scored from the penalty spot after Niall Reynolds brought down a Rutherglen player.
The game finished with Thistle comfortable winners. The trialists on view certainly gave the coaching staff food for thought.
