Like Saturday’s game this friendly started in a downpour which gradually got worse as the game progressed, with puddles starting to make conditions dangerous for the players. The home team were adapting better to the conditions and it was no surprise when they opened the scoring after Stuart Thomson made a fine save but a Blackburn player followed up to score.
The ball was now sticking in puddles all over the park and the referee spoke to both managers with about 15 minutes to go till the interval. Thistle equalised when Mark McKeever was fouled in the box and David Reid duly converted the penalty. The half ended with a superb one handed save by Stuart Thomson, with the Blackburn No9 unable to net the loose ball.
The referee then made the correct decision and abandoned the game. Again, nothing but praise for both sets of players for their efforts in terrible conditions.
